Batalá “Hit That Shake That”

Batalá New York returns to offer this opportunity to move your body and every body while creating rhythm on several percussion instruments used in the Samba Reggae, Samba Afro, and other genres building on Afro-Brazilian and African Diaspora traditions. Students will learn and embody rhythms and choreography that lift the spirit, build community, and honor the deeply transcendent traditions of Black resistance in Brazil and around the globe. The culminating performance will be alongside the Batalá performing company. Come drum with us during this 10-week donation based Dance for Joy! series and feel the joy!
