Saidi Dance Workshop
at MARK MORRIS DANCE CENTER w/ Ragaey Hussein
Ragaey Hussein
In Saidi, the spirit is alive — because this isn't just steps, it's energy moving through the body.
Saidi is a lively, magnetic folkloric dance style from Upper Egypt, rooted in the rural village life of the Sa'id region along the Nile. The movements are strong and grounded, the music is bold and irresistible, and the energy is pure celebration. Once you hear that rhythm, it's hard not to move.
Rooted in Tahtib, Saidi carries real power and it’s about character. Dancers can be cheeky, and full of personality. That contrast of strong yet teasing is what makes it so magnetic. It celebrates culture, heritage, and identity in a way that feels alive, not heavy.
Come ready to move, connect, and experience a dance that's been alive for generations.
