Come embody Resilience with Cumbe! Learn Samba from its African roots through Salvador, Bahia, to its evolution as Brazil's national dance in Rio de Janeiro's famous Carnival. Explore forms from Rio and Bahia — Samba no Pé, Miudinho, Samba Reggae, Samba Afro and more — alongside Afro-Brazilian movement originating from Angola, Congo, Benin, and Nigeria. Led by teaching artist Quenia Ribeiro, this class pairs a thorough warm-up and isolations with strengthening, stretching, and a relaxing cool down.
