Come embody Resilience with Cumbe! This Haitian dance class takes you on a journey to the nanm, meaning "soul" in Haitian Kreyòl. Become acquainted with the lwa, the spirits of the Vodou religion, through their dances, songs, rhythms, and rituals, rooted in West Africa and the South American Amazon. Feel the undulating movements of Yanvalu, the powerful precision of Nago, and the grace and beauty of Kongo. Led by teaching artist Julio Jean, this all-levels class is open to every dancer.
