Join Batalá New York for a high-energy drum and dance workshop rooted in the rhythms of Salvador, Bahia. Open to all levels, this is a chance to connect to the heartbeat of Samba Reggae — deep, powerful, and alive.
Students will learn:
• Surdo fundamentals and technique — how to create that big, grounded sound
• The language of Batalá — signature rhythms that move a crowd
• Movement and connection — playing as a unified section, with energy and intention
• Cultural roots — the history of Samba Reggae as both resistance and celebration.
Drums, sticks, stands/belts, knee pads, and ear plugs provided! First come, first served.
